GREEN PAINTED & WAXED CHEST OF DRAWERS

BLOGGER MELODY SMITH of MyPassionForDecor.blogspot.com

Melody and I first met when we were doing a Hometalk Hangout, discussing painting tips using Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan. Apparently we bonded, because we have connected at the Haven bloggers conference and in general. Love her blog, her ideas and her projects! And yes, I begged for two of her photos. (See her white piece below.)

WARM YELLOW CHEST OF DRAWERS

LYNN BANDYK of Bella B Décor in Overland Park, Paola & Kansas City, Kansas

I loved this piece the minute I saw it at Lynn’s Overland Park store. It is warm and mellow and beautifully painted in Arles Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan, with a Dark Wax finish. The pretty details on the chest make it especially attractive.

STENCILED, STRIPED SIDEBOARD

ANNETTE TYRRELL, submitted by Kim Smith of Artworks Coeur d’Alene, Coeur D’Alene, Idaho

Owner of Artworks, Nancy Jones and I are long-time friends and traveling roomies. She is a creative genius with paint and products! Her studios in Spokane, WA and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho are amazing. They beautifully showcase the work of Nancy and her crew – and – are mobile enough to pack up and go to a show. This piece by Annette was featured in the new shop in Idaho and I had to show if off in the Notebook. Love the combination of stripes, stencils and texture.

WHITE & NATURAL WOOD PAINTED, DISTRESSED CHEST

BLOGGER MELODY SMITH of MyPassionForDecor.blogspot.com

Most of us naturally paint a piece all over. So I was drawn to Melody’s restraint – she let the details remain natural. Melody and I really love this look.

PAINTED & STENCILED CABINET

MARY ANNE MERFELD, Brushstrokes by Mary Anne, Cumming, GA

The clean lines and contemporary style really make this piece. Mary Anne’s design is so simple, yet so upscale. Her choice of stencil – the scale, the design and the color – perfection!

Mary Anne’s Chalk Paint® recipe: The finish is a mixture of French Linen and Graphite for the base coat.  Old white on top and legs. Stencil is from Royal Design Studio, Moorish lattice.  I used a mixture of French Linen, Graphite and Artisan Enhancements Pearl Plaster for the stencil.  The top coat is Annie Sloan Dark Wax on the body.

PAINTED AND WAXED BABY CRIB

JAMIE FIGARI, Kalology Studio, Austin, Texas

This crib is certainly the most sophisticated one I have ever seen! Perfect as shown, in a more modern setting for baby. Jamie says that she used it for both of her boys.

Jamie’s Chalk Paint® recipe: Base coat of French Linen, Clear Soft Wax, 50/50 Paris Grey and Old White wash.

  1. Oh, wow! I love these! I am so afraid of color. I took a chalk painting class a couple of years ago and have yet to paint the first thing. I love what you’ve done! Thank you for the beautiful inspiration!
