Recently, several of my Art Ladies friends journeyed north to Tazewell, Virginia, to spend a lovely, relaxing weekend with member and master glass artist Nancy Brooks of Sleepin’ Dog. In my pre-trip post I mentioned our typical agenda, but we never really know what will be in store until our arrival.
By coincidence, this year the town of Tazewell was hosting a summer festival – a day-long event chock-full of beach music, a car show, a flower show, booths and tasty treats. All activities downtown, just a scenic walk down the hill from Nancy’s 200-year-old restored home.
One of our favorite stops was at the quilt show. Stop in, visit with some of the most talented quilters and vote for your favs. Quite a tough decision. Every quilt was a masterpiece, lovingly designed and stitched. Here I have captured a few of my favorites.
And yes, I had one favorite that stole the show in my mind. We never heard who won, but here is my Best In Show. The colors, the patterns and the fabric choices all fading one to another – fabulous!
All of us who paint furniture can get so many ideas for color combinations and designs to incorporate into our pieces from these stunning quilts, don’t you agree?
Thanks, artsy ladies of Tazewell for the inspiration and Saturday morning visual treat!
