The DIY Furniture Finish Challenge Is On, Featuring Artisan Enhancements Products!

DIY Furniture Finish Challenge

A while back, I threw down the gauntlet and challenged anyone to send me inspiration photos of finishes found in magazines, on Pinterest, anywhere. Then I would choose one and interpret which products and colors to use, then execute it on a piece of furniture.

Here we go! Staci at Artisan Enhancements challenged me to a little duel. I am going to re-create this gorgeous wall finish, done by Stucco Italiano, Inc. As a faux finisher, I am salivating over this color and texture, but I understand that for the DIYer, it is unattainable.

So, Stucco Italiano, thank you for the fab inspiration!

Inspiration for DIY Challenge

So what is the deal with Staci? So cool! She is going to create the finish on a wall. We are not collaborating on a recipe for how to get our looks, but we will share both of our interpretations.

So fascinating to see which Artisan Enhancements products we each choose!

So stay tuned!

Fusion Stencils, Metallics And Texture Make A Simple Plant Stand Gorgeous

{This post is sponsored by Fusion Mineral Paint. They graciously allow me to create projects with their amazing products. The content and ideas are my own.}

Fusion Mineral Paint stenciled and gilded plant stand project.

I am still working on projects in our happy, bright, living room. Years ago I rescued this substantial plant stand with visions of stenciling it like glam fabric to coordinate with our old and crusty column collection. You can see that it got a quick distressed finish and nothing else. So much potential was waiting to happen, right?

Here’s How I Used Fusion Products To Create Texture And Bling On My Bland Brown Table

Table painted with Fusion Mineral PaintI just know you have a bland, boring, brown something in the attic you are dying to make gorgeous. Right? I did too. I discovered this lovely table that was perfect. Well, almost perfect. It. Was. Ugly. Leather top and all.

Although I have played quite a lot with Fusion Mineral Paint and products, this was my first complete project where I got to brainstorm a new look for this piece, and use several fun paint colors and stencils.

Gilding Lily With A Touch of French Gilding Wax And An Old Silver Rosary

Gilding Lily a wooden santos

I fell in love with her in a warehouse. She was so forlorn. So sad. Hidden away in a dim, cold, storage building of treasures. Covered in dirt from the far corners of the earth. She looked – hardy. Sturdy. Like she’d been through life’s trials and tribulations.

One eyebrow was raised in anticipation of … something.

Use Wood Icing™, A Stencil And Silver Leaf To Create This Industrial Lace Canvas Art!

Industrial Lace Canvas Art{Although this post is sponsored by Wood Icing™, the idea, experimentation, and comments are my own.}

Are you a fan of the industrial look? Do you love lace? Let’s put the two together and create this metal-look patterned artwork with lots of depth. It almost looks like a chunk of heavy solid embossed steel! My favorite thing to do with artwork it to layer it with other pieces. Everywhere. This pretty vignette is on my dresser.

Can you just imagine an entire wall of these in several metal finishes. Love it!

My Funky Holiday Mantel Decorating In Our Cozy Den

This rustic fireplace is perfect for some funky decorations

Our den is where we truly live in the evening. We are empty nesters, and admittedly, we eat dinner here, watch movies and sports here, and find ourselves quite entertained by our three calico kitties each night. The fact that red leather furniture and a crusty old red door make up the décor means decorating for Christmas is a snap. In fact, decorating the mantel with lots of natural holly and large branches in the fireplace that stay in place all year is quite speedy.

An Old Dough Bowl Gets Gorgeous Using Wood Icing® + Milk Paint!

Wooden dough bowl painted with green mmilk paint and stenciled with Wood Icing Textura Paste

I have spent many years in the faux finishing and DIY paint worlds. I can’t even begin to count the number of different products I have used. Some I love to use, and others…well, not so much. I am excited today to play with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint for the first time. The look is very “me” and the though of pairing it in a project with Wood Icing‘s Textura Paste made me jump out of bed this morning in anticipation of the possibilities.
