Thank You Bliss Ranch, Canvas Designz, Hometalk, And More!

Hang your collection with one post.

Pinch me! I am a passionate DIYer around our home, and for several DIY brands of paint, products, and patterns. Though I have been so fortunate to have many long-term followers over the years, rarely does my blog sort of blow up with high readership numbers.

Especially on a 2-year-old post that was a very simple project for me and my handyman hubby Steve!

I must shout out thanks to sites that shared this little post, and my similar Hometalk post, which has recently garnered over 235,000 views and 17,000 pins.

Happy painting and projecting!

An Old Chest Upcycled With Fusion Mineral Paint In Blues

Upcycled old chest, using Fusion Renfrew and Homestead Blue.

No doubt, Fusion Mineral Paint is one of the fastest and easiest ways to update a piece of furniture. The eco-friendly, matte finish, 100% acrylic paint won my heart a couple of years ago.

If you know my style, I love to layer, add texture and patterns, and more. But lately I am craving a total simplicity option: a quick way to update a piece, with NO clear coat or wax required. Used gently for 21 days to dry and cure, this product is super durable.

Having been a project blogger for many years, I am gloriously blessed with the opportunity to try out many fabulous home décor ideas with a variety of paint, patterns, and tools. And, over all of those years, our house gets, quite frankly, over-projected at times.

So I have been on a mission to redirect my style, though always a bit boho and eclectic, to a more serene place of quiet backgrounds with unique art and colorful accents.

Thank You PaintAndPattern.com!

PaintAndPattern.com

Many thanks to Melanie Royals and the team at Royal Design Studio, who publishes the online design magazine PaintAndPattern.com, for including my tutorials for a second year in 2015! Clearly, I am nuts about stenciling and all sorts of patterns, from contemporary, to Moroccan, and everything in between.

Thanks as well for sending so many stencils and modellos for me to use in my workshops at ArtFusion in Santa Fe. They are always a huge hit.

Yes, our home is very Boho, with lots of color and pattern in stenciled furniture, accessories, and artwork. Just when I think I can’t imagine one more stenciling project, I get inspired again, often by fellow P+P bloggers like Deb Trombley, of NomadicDecorator.com and so many more.

I’m looking forward to many new project adventures using Royal Design Studio stencils, modellos, Stencil Cremes and who knows what else in 2016. See you there!

Thank you Modern Masters for including me to spread the good word about your amazing products during 2015!

It has been a fabulous, creative year for me, using Modern Masters Metal Effects to create projects for the blog, ModernMastersCafe.com, and in workshops across the country.

Rust, crust, and patina, on letters, home accessories, artwork, focus walls and more! Here’s a look back at a favorite art project that I did for our master bedroom, using a old ceiling tin mounted on a wooden frame.

Remembering 2015 Projects: Make A Simple Plant Stand Gorgeous

Make a simple plant stand gorgeous using Fusion Mineral Paint and products |Tutorial

Here’s one of my many favorite projects for Fusion Mineral Paint, using their paint, Tinting Kits, Sand Stone Texture, Gilding Paste, and Beeswax Finish.

There’s nothing like the feeling of taking a piece like this large, boring plant stand and making it a fabulous statement in a room!

Easy Christmas Cards Using Wood Icing® And A Royal Design Studio Stencil

Make Easy Christmas Cards Tutorial | Wood Icing® Textura Paste and Royal Design Studio Stencil

Do you have little ones who love to get involved in holiday activities, not to mention birthdays, special events, and baby showers? As a little girl growing up in winter-frozen Massachusetts, Mom and I often found ourselves snowed in, Dad at work, anxious for fun stuff to create. She was always able to conjure a cigar box of art supplies, and away we would go, making and doing.

One especially fond memory, when I was in grammar school, was making greeting cards for all occasions when neighbors observed my passion for drawing. They paid me as much as it would have cost for a store-bought version, and I even designed a logo to add to the back, like Hallmark.

Painting Grandkitty Chuck Norris Using Wood Icing® Glazes And Stencil!

Use Wood Icing® Furniture Glazing Colors and stencil to draw a kitty caricature.

Lately, I have been enjoying getting out of my comfort zone creatively. Though I studied painting in college, back then we learned to paint with oils. I hated using oils then, and still do. After graduation, as an illustrator, I graduated to acrylics. But I was scared to death of watercolors and ignored them, and the possibilities, until a few weeks ago.

I began painting simple little kitty and doggie caricatures. What a fun, simple pleasure.

For quite some time I have been creating textured finishes and project for Wood Icing®, mostly with Textura Paste. Today, as I was looking through my supplies, I realized that the Wood Icing® Glazes would make the perfect medium to paint my Grandkitty Chuck Norris – or anything really.

My Artisan Enhancements DIY Furniture Finish Challenge Project Revealed!

My Artisan Enhancements DIY Furniture Finish Challenge Project Revealed!

My Artisan Enhancements DIY Furniture Finish Challenge Project Revealed!Recently I announced that Staci Belew of Artisan Enhancements and I challenged each other to a DIY Furniture Finish Challenge, featuring AE products. We were both inspired by the Stucco Italiano wall finish photo at left that Staci discovered.

I decided to recreate it on a small piece in our hallway, and eventually, Staci will introduce her version on a focus wall later. We have not compared notes on how we approached which products to use, colors, textures, or layering. So it will be exciting to see Staci’s version too.

Small, Rustic Touches In Our Tiny Powder Room Add Up To Fabulous!

Rustic bath accents and a pearly wall finish update a tiny powder room.

I’m pretty sure that we have the weirdest, smallest powder room in existence. It is not prominently featured somewhere near the entrance of our home, where guests can discover it. It is hidden at the back door, within the laundry room.

Blah! When we first moved here I’m not sure we knew it existed for a month. Until we had a gaggle of little girls over for a deck party. Then the magic location revealed itself as nothing short of brilliant.
