Many thanks to Danielle at FindingSilverPennies.com for shooting my photo.

A Day Of Shooting With Fifi O’neill For Boho Style Magazine

Friday the 13th of October was more fun than a barrel of kitties! Magazine editor and styling guru, along with her masterful photographer, Mark Lohman and assistant son Taylor, arrived toting a giant bucket of gorgeous fresh flowers and equipment galore.

Kitty lover Fifi immediately charmed Gracie Lee, and even aloof Buggy Buggerson kitty let Fifi snap her photo.

Our home fits right into Fifi’s BOHO Style magazine. She featured my Color Inspiration Notebook in the premier issue, and I have loved BOHO Style ever since.

The next issue, coming to newsstands in a couple of weeks, is stunning. (While here, Fifi let me preview the issue, that includes a lovely shoot at her own home!) Don’t miss it, and stay tuned for our fun and funky home in an upcoming issue next year!

It’s A Blast Being 2 Years Old Again!

My Patch Of Blue Sky is 2 years old

From the 2-year-old me, and the artsy me, Happy Thanksgiving!

I am ever grateful to my family, friends, clients, blog readers, paint and project lovers, students, printers, Color Inspiration Notebook retailers and readers, and companion kitties for a fast, fabulous, 2 years in business. You all allow me to do what I love so much.

All the best, and cheers to you,

Debbie

International Rust, Chippy Paint & Patina At The High Point Furniture Market

Blue Ocean Traders at the Spring High Point Furniture Market

Many of you know that I used to co-own a shop called Feather Your Nest with friends here in Greensboro, North Carolina. It was operated in conjunction with my former faux finishing studio, Faux Design Studio.

Of course, owning a shop means shopping the High Point Furniture Market.

One vendor I discovered years ago with my designer friend Sandra Barron was Blue Ocean Traders. Owner Jason Mulvene has made his company a top source for vintage American, European, Asian, Egyptian, and Indian furniture and accessories. For my store, I found items that coordinated well with the painted furniture and finds we offered. In my finishing studio, I bought furniture and accessories for the décor and ambiance, and often visitors twisted my arm to sell them.

Now that I am a consultant for DIY paint products and a blogger, I still love Blue Ocean Traders for photography props and a client here and there.

Our Devilishly Delicious Halloween Feast, or, BOO!

halloween party

Nobody, but nobody puts on a Halloween party like my friends Sandra, Kim, Sophie and their husbands!

They plan, scheme, cook like fiends, decorate devilishly and dress up in creative, creepy costumes. And they out-do themselves time and time again.

This evening soiree was a sit-down “Witches Stew” for 30 ghosts and goblins.

Check out some of the evening’s characters, the grub and the dastardly decor…

Photo of pattern play in Peacock Pavilions dining room

Do you love modern furniture? I do. Love the sleek lines and inventive designs. Modern style fits in everywhere, if you love to mix like I do. I recently discovered the Modani line of modern furniture – their stores are found in large metro areas and their website is to die for.

Modani modern furniture recently noticed my rogue design style here on MyPatchOfBlueSky.com and I responded with this post. Since I tend to break lots of rules I decided to tackle Modani’s Rules To Break Number 3 – stick to one pattern per room. Continue reading

Fabulous Flowers And Vignettes Abound At The Farmers Wife

Photo of the Farmer's Wife

I had to do it. I had to bust out of my office. Most days I am happy as a clam in my little nest – an office and studio filled with plants, inspiration and a kitty who manages it all. Today I had the wiggles that I could not squelch. One. Minute. Longer.
